Often the first point of contact for clients at Southchurch is the consulting practice. This discipline is managed by Tony Finch, BSc in Property Development and Asset Management. As Southchurch has over 30 years experience in the contracting industry, we believe our consulting services relate to the real world. From this we can determine feasibility, accurate costings and a time-scale to sanction and complete the works. 

  • Clients may only have an initial requirement, concept or idea. A non-obligatory meeting with Tony Finch or one of the dedicated consulting team will establish whether there is feasibility in this. Our projects are undertaken with respect to the clients’ needs and the integrity of the services we offer. We will not venture any further into the project if we believe it is not ultimately feasible.

  • Once a project is undertaken our consulting service will proceed with an extensive programme that includes the surveying of existing buildings or sites; producing a schedule of condition; schematic design; visualisation; and, using our expertise in construction, budgeting costs.

  • Once these are completed your expert team member will deal with all matters related to planning, whether this entails liaising with the planning authority; appointing a planning consultant, where necessary; preparing and submitting the planning application.

  • The next step in our detailed consulting procedure is, in close partnership with the client, and in accordance with their requirements, to produce technical and structural designs. This can be done either in house using Tony or by choosing a carefully selected architect of which Southchurch has solid working relationships with, or one of the clients’ choice.

  • Your consultant at Southchurch will ensure that detailed specifications are available for your contractor, and that building regulation compliance is in place.

  • The consultants at Southchurch have extensive knowledge and expertise when dealing with conservation issues and Listed Buildings. They understand that the delicate issues involved in the process of altering or refurbishing such buildings. They will ensure that Listed building consent is obtained, materials are sourced is accordance with specifications, and they will undertake all Heritage liaison.

  • Once detailed and compliant design plans have been finalised, the client can then, if they choose, take advantage of the fully integrated service that Southchurch has to offer by choosing to utilise either the Contracting or Specialist Works discipline of the company.

  • When Southchurch undertake contracting work from our own design we encourage clients to appoint an independent contract administrator and a client representative to work on their behalf.

  • Southchurch are fully proficient in Project Management. We have high levels of experience in this area that includes providing self-build consultancy; managing community projects; and contract administration.
